In light of the ongoing discussions about the future of agriculture in the European Union and the frame of the Common agricultural policy after the year 2020, it is utterly important to outline that as one of the most significant EU policies the CAP is responsible for the provision of food security through reasonably priced foods for nearly the whole European population. Crisis in maize prices: activate the safety nets

28.09.2016, Paris (France). At a Board Meeting held in Paris on 27 September, European maize producers noted once again that the CAP tools are not protecting them against the crisis affecting their sector. In addition, they observed that the latest safety nets were not activated on time. They have requested the European Commission to reactivate customs duties as soon as possible, as well as ensure their access to all production and competitiveness factors. Survival of the Bulgarian grain sector uncertain over low market prices and disturbing condition of the spring crops

In light of recent predictions about this year’s record yields of wheat, the NGPA released a statement signaling the worrisome indicators of the grain sector. The picture is far from perfect since spring conditions were harsh, due to the extremely rainy and wet weather, and crop prices crash. This, in turn, could result in decrease of the rental and sale prices of land. Meanwhile, the condition of the spring crops is another cause for alarm. The 2016 “Peace Bread” Harvest Ceremony Visited by its German Counterparts

The 2016 hosts in the “Peace Bread” project in Bulgaria, Nikolay Kirov, (chairman of the “Union of Grain Producers from Burgas Province”), and Teodor Todorov, (chairman of the “Union of Grain Producers Markeli” – Karnobat), welcomed numerous guests, friends, and colleagues at the ritual rye harvest which took place in the village of Klikach, Burgas province.
