Sofia. The managing board of the National Association of Grain Producers has decided to stage a national rally on Friday at 12:00 p.m. in Sofia, Angel Vukodinov, chairman of the Plovdiv Union of Grain Producers and member of the Association’s managing board, told Focus News Agency.

The farmers will bring tractors and other agriculture machinery with them.

Bulgarian grain farmers blocked roads across the country Wednesday, as milk producers and cattle breeders gathered in front of the farming ministry to demand delayed agricultural subsidy payments, national radio reported, the EUbusiness writes.

Grain producers drove 50 tractors through the main streets of Burgas, in eastern Bulgaria, bringing traffic to a standstill, to protest the delay in payments.
They said they were now forced to sell wheat at 180 leva (90 euros) per tonne compared to last year’s 450-500 leva per tonne to cover their bank credits.
